Richarlison sends warning to Spurs teammate ahead of international fixture

England will take on Brazil in an international friendly on March 23rd, and Richarlison has told James Maddison that the fact they are teammates at club level will not mean anything to him when they face off against one another for their countries.

Richarlison has been in fine form for Tottenham this season, registering 11 goals and three assists across 26 games for the Lilywhites so far this term (Transfermarkt).

Similarly, James Maddison has enjoyed his first year with Spurs, contributing four goals and eight assists in 20 games across all competitions (Transfermarkt).

Both players have been called up for their respective countries for the impending international break. Brazil will travel to Wembley on Saturday night to take on the Three Lions in a friendly match.

Richarlison looking forward to playing England

The two Spurs stars will be hoping to feature in the game on Saturday, but Richarlison insists he is ready to win the game and forget about the friendship he has with Maddison.

He told CBF: “That’s right. I’ve even warned Maddison that we’re going to get them. There’s no such thing as friendship on the pitch. So I hope we can have a great game and, preferably, come away with a win.”

The striker is currently in St. Albans as preparation for the big game is underway, a location close to his heart. He added: “I’m the happiest guy in the world just to be here again, wearing this shirt. I feel at home here. I lived here for a month when I arrived to play for Watford. Here I’m close to everything and I’m very happy.”

I would imagine Richarlison will play some minutes on Saturday and may even start the game. I am less sure Maddison will get time on the pitch, as we all know Southgate has his favourites and Maddison is not necessarily one of them.
