Partygoers got an early start to their St Patrick’s Day celebrations last night, with revellers taking to the pubs and clubs across the UK.
Fancy dress – including priests and lepruchauns – were spotted alongside Guinness-themed outfits and green going out fashion.
Large Guinness hats, shamrock glasses and even shamrock-adorned t-shirts were spotted as partygoers took to the street a day ahead of the Irish festivities.
One man was spotted donning a green fancy dress, with white socks reading ‘what a nob’.
Cities with a large Irish population, including Manchester, Liverpool and London, are expected to see major crowds come out to celebrate Sunday.
St Patrick’s Day honours the patron saint of Ireland, St Patrick, who was instrumental in transitioning Ireland away from Paganism towards Christianity.
It’s one of the most celebrated saintly feast days around the world, far detached from its original Christian meaning.
The holiday even has it’s own Google Doodle today, showing a stunning country and city landscape to celebrate St Patrick’s Day.
The unique wood burn art piece was created to celebrate the wide array of scenery found in Ireland.
Lush green trees and cliffs by the sea transition to traditional buildings sat alongside a river, showing the diversity of Ireland’s landscapes.
It appears to show a location similar to the famed Cliffs of Moher and stunning homes in County Cork.
