Alan Shearer has revealed that he believes that Eddie Howe will remain at the club despite their poor performances so far this campaign.
After an excellent season last year which saw Newcastle secure Champions League football after finishing fourth in the Premier League table, many expected the Magpies to build upon that success.
Unfortunately, they currently sit in 10th spot in the league table and are out of every other competition, with the 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup securing another trophyless campaign.
Considering their ownership, fans expect big things from the club and questions have been asked of Howe, as the pressure begins to mount on the English manager.
But speaking to the BBC, Shearer has backed Howe claiming that he has done enough up to this point to keep him in the job.
“But, I know he [Howe] has enough in the bank.” He said via Newcastle World.
“He’ll be the manager at Newcastle next season no matter what happens, whether they finish mid-table or whether they are able to get a place somewhere in Europe”
Howe hasn’t been helped by the seemingly relentless injuries that his side has with a host of first-team names missing a big chunk of the season.
