Great-great grandma celebrates turning 103 by having massive rave
A great-great grandma celebrated her 103rd birthday in style by hosting a rave party at the care home she lives at.
Vera Sak, and the other residents, turned Chestnuts Residential Home in Grimsby into an Ibiza superclub for the milestone.
The 103-year-old looked the part and donned neon green glasses, leg warmers and a tutu, as she danced to some absolute bangers.
The care home was decorated with neon balloons, flashing lights and glowsticks.
Vera celebrated the occasion with her two sons Robert and John on March 1.
John said: ‘They’ve gone above the call of duty, I think the staff here are so wonderful.’
Care home manager Emma Phillips said: ‘We always plan special events for our residents’ birthday. The team have worked incredibly hard on this party, but it’s not every day that someone turns 103.’
Tracy Atkins, chief operating officer of St Phillips Care, which owns the home added: ‘All of our care homes promote the uniqueness and individuality of their residents. Our staff do an incredible job of bringing joy and entertainment to the residents every day, but this is something special.
‘I am so impressed by the dedication and hard work of our staff to plan and hold such an amazing event to celebrate Vera’s birthday.’
A 100-year-old recently celebrated her birthday by putting some candles in a KFC bucket.
Violet Osborne, who just turned 100, has lived through WWII, the rise and fall of the Soviet Union, and man’s first steps on the moon.
The ‘people person’ – who is grandma to Oliver and Becky and great gran to Kara, Ava, Mia and Theo – loves shopping, knitting, word searches, reading and music – especially Coldplay.
Violet is a self-professed KFC lover, but she’s at pains to explain that it’s not Colonel Sanders to thank for her extraordinary lifespan but a glass of milk.
