Ex-adviser to Melania Trump says Donald's lack of 'chivalry' shows marriage trouble

A former senior adviser to Melania Trump says she thinks the former First Lady's marriage to Donald Trump is in trouble, based on what she sees as a change in his behavior.

In a post to X, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, the author of the tell-all “Melania and Me,” said that perception is everything to the Trump family, "so Trump's lack of ‘chivalry’ towards Melania is quite a ‘tell.'"

“Chivalry for Donald was waiting for Melania to go first & ensuring she walked by his side. He’s been doing neither recently. Take a [look]," Wolkoff wrote alongside a video comparing past footage of Trump placing his hand on Melania's back to allow her to walk ahead of him, with a more recent video of Trump doing no such thing and walking ahead of her.

While many commenters on the thread agreed with Wolkoff's take, some thought she was taking things out of context.

"People read to [sic] much into things. This family has been put through hell by the media and the court system. She also just lost her mother. Her heart is not into this right now. She would rather be home but she is there for her husband," one X user wrote, referring to the January death of Melania's mother Amalija Knavs.

As The New York Post pointed out, Melania previously slammed Wolkoff in the wake of her book being published, calling her an "opportunist," adding that she was “someone who clung to me after my husband won the Presidency.”

“This is a woman who secretly recorded our phone calls, releasing portions from me that were out of context, then wrote a book of idle gossip trying to distort my character,” Melania wrote at the time.

Nevertheless, Wolkoff came to her former boss's defense after speculation circulated in the media about Melania's absence from her husband's Super Tuesday victory party.

“Melania Trump was NOT at Donald’s victory party because she did NOT have to be," Wolkoff wrote on X. “His supporters do NOT care if she is by his side or NOT, so now she does NOT have to be. NOThing more, NOThing less.”
