US-UK coalition airstrikes in Yemen kill 11, injure 14 amid rising tensions

The spokesperson for the Yemeni government announced that following the aerial attacks by the military coalition of the United States and the United Kingdom on Houthi positions, ports, and towns in the west of the country, at least 11 people were killed and 14 others were injured.

The television network Al Masirah, which is operated by the Houthis, reported that these attacks occurred on Monday, March 11, targeting Houthi positions, ports, and western towns in Yemen.

According to reports, at least 17 airstrikes were carried out in various parts of Yemen, including the ports of “Hodeidah” and “Ras Isa”.

These attacks followed the sinking of a commercial ship and the death of several civilians due to Houthi attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea.

Previously, CENTCOM had stated that the United States and its partners remain committed to protecting the freedom of navigation, striving to enhance the safety and security of international waters for commercial shipping.

These actions come as Houthi attacks in support of Palestinian groups began following clashes between Israel and Hamas.

The geopolitics of the Middle East, particularly about Iran’s role, adds another layer of complexity to the situation in Yemen. Iran is widely regarded as a key supporter of the Houthi rebels, providing them with financial and military assistance.
