Our Under 14 De La Wes squad continued their preparation for the their Leinster League semi final on the 23rd of March in Ballycorus this morning and even with small amount of numbers they still managed to get a good session out of the time that they had on the pitch.
Meanwhile our OWRFC Under 10’s continued their inaugural season as a squad by hosting a Girls Mini Blitz at our home in Donnybrook. A huge thank you to Clontarf, Suttonians and Terenure for coming to join us for our first ever hosting of a girls Blitz. Our Under 10’s took part in a match against Teronains, a mix of Terenure and Suttonians with great composure in running with the ball, finding and denying space, tackling and scoring tries. We also had a very proud dad when both daughters scored a try for OWRFC. All the girls looked sharp and with Jude continuing her great powerful running, supported by Helena and Aoibhe it is clear to see that the girls understanding of rugby is improving vastly. Both Bruna and Eva managed to get on the score sheet while Kathleena and Sophie supported the ball carrier and were first to the breakdown. Millie continued her development of rugby as she played her second match for the club. A huge thank you to all our parents for contributing to the post Blitz refreshments.
The Under 10’s are supported by both Maya Neely and Cate Steele who are role models for our squad. A huge thank you to these two great rugby players for their encouragement and enthusiasm in supporting the squad.
Our season is far from over as the Under 14’s finish off their Leinster league and Metro league campaigns over the next month while our Under 10’s still have trips to St Marys and Old Belvo.
We are also delighted to be awarded the IRFU Give It a Try programme for another year, where girls sign up for an 8 week coaching course with the idea of increasing the membership of girls in the club for September. More details to follow.
