Reese Witherspoon’s Reported New Dating Philosophy May Show How Much the Jim Toth Divorce Affected Her
After Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth divorced in 2023, many expected Witherspoon to get into another high-profile relationship rather quickly. While Toth was seen with a reported new partner in July 2023, Witherspoon hasn’t been making headlines for dating (except for the rumor mills that linked her to Tom Brady and Kevin Costner). And it seems her new dating philosophy may have to do with the fact that her divorce from Toth was so publicized.
An insider told Life and Style Mag, Witherspoon wants to keep her dating life as private as can be right now. “She feels it’s not fair to the guy, who might be on a first or second date and suddenly has nosy friends asking him to define the relationship. So she’s decided to date in secret,” the insider said.
“She’s not ready to jump into a relationship with both feet, but she’s agreed to let friends fix her up, and they usually meet at the friend’s place,” they added. “You won’t be seeing her out and about with a guy, unless she feels he’s a keeper.”
So while Witherspoon may be back in the dating game a bit, it’s clear fans won’t hear anything about it anytime soon.
For those who don’t know, Witherspoon and Toth were married for nearly 12 years, since tying the knot in 2011. However, they announced their divorce through social media in a now-archived post on March 24, saying, “We have some personal news to share… It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together,” they said. “Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter. These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone’s respect for our family’s privacy at this time.”
