Club Concerned Loan Star May Not Play Enough Nottingham Forest Games For Clause Trigger

Gonzalo Montiel might not end up playing the number of games needed to trigger the obligation to buy in Sevilla’s loan agreement with Nottingham Forest.

 

Nottingham Forest signed Montiel from Sevilla last summer on a season-long loan deal and he has been in and out of the team this term.

 

Sevilla also managed to insert a buy option that will become an obligation if he plays half of the games.

 

 

 

However, according to Seville-based daily Estadio Deportivo, Sevilla are worried that the obligation to buy will not be triggered.

 

Montiel has played only 14 of the 31 games this season for Nottingham Forest and is currently struggling with a hamstring injury.

 

 

He lost his place in the team under Steve Cooper but got back into the mix when Nuno Espirito Santo took charge.

 

However, the hamstring injury has forced him to miss the last four Premier League games and the FA Cup clash against Manchester United.

 

 

He will have to play eight of Nottingham Forest’s last eleven games for the option to buy to become an obligation.
