Film's biggest night is almost here. The 96th annual Academy Awards will air live from the Dolby Theatre on March 10 at 7 p.m. ET. Jimmy Kimmel returns as host for the fourth time, and the competition for best picture promises to be stiff.

Best picture nominees include everything from Barbenheimer blockbuster summer duo "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" to indie darling "Past Lives." Overall themes this year included death, existential quandaries, and womanhood. In a substantial shakeup from the norm, multiple foreign language films made the best picture cut, including "Anatomy of a Fall" and "The Zone of Interest." "Oppenheimer" leads the pack with a whopping 13 nominations, but "Poor Things" and "Killers of the Flower Moon" trail close behind with a respective 11 and 10 nominations.

There's still time to watch all 10 of the best picture nominees. Every film is currently available to stream, even if it's still screening in theaters. Below, we'll show you all of your streaming options when it comes to where to watch every 2024 Oscars best picture nominee. Plus, we'll show you how to use a VPN to watch the films from anywhere if your local streaming services don't have these movies yet. And if you're hoping to catch the ceremony live, make sure to check out our guide on where to watch an Oscars live stream for free online from anywhere.

American Fiction

Based on Percival Everett's novel "Erasure," "American Fiction" follows novelist and professor Thelonious "Monk" Ellison (Jeffrey Wright), who decides to write a book mocking the literary stereotypes expected of Black authors. To his surprise, he lands a massive advance for the book, which is published to critical acclaim. The only catch is that he doesn't publish it under his own name and instead pretends to be a fugitive, and chaos ensues. The comedy-drama earned five total Academy Award nominations, including a best actor nod for Wright.

Sandra Hüller in "Anatomy of a Fall."

Anatomy of a Fall

"Anatomy of a Fall," the French legal procedural, is a thriller and mystery at heart. When a writer's (Sandra Hüller) husband dies after suffering a fall from the attic of their home, she becomes the prime suspect in his untimely demise. The trial-centric movie toys with unreliable narrators and motivations and offers an illuminating peek into the French court system. The film nabbed five Oscar nominations, including best director for Justine Triet.

Barbie

Warner Bros.' billion dollar baby helped reinvigorate the box office this summer. Thanks to director Greta Gerwig and star/producer Margot Robbie, "Barbie" brought the iconic Mattel doll to life and threw her for a loop by giving her an existential crisis. Forced to leave Barbie Land and sort out her problems, Barbie (and Ken!) discovered all of the highs and lows of the real world. The movie also features stellar supporting performances from Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera, who both snagged individual Oscar nods. "Barbie" received a total of 8 Academy Award nominations.

The Holdovers

Set at a New England boys boarding school in the early 1970s, "The Holdovers" follows a teacher (Paul Giamatti) who is forced to stay on campus over the holiday break to watch the group of students who have nowhere to go. The film is part comedy and part drama and ultimately serves as an acting showcase for a stellar cast, including newcomer Dominic Sessa. "The Holdovers" received five Oscar nominations, including best supporting actress for Da'Vine Joy Randolph, who has swept the category at several awards ceremonies already this season.

Stream it on Peacock. Rent or buy it on Apple TV+, Prime Video, or Vudu.

Killers of the Flower Moon

Martin Scorsese's Western crime epic details the true story of the Osage Nation murders in 1920s Oklahoma. Based on David Grann's book of the same name, "Killers of the Flower Moon" follows the tragedy that took place after oil was discovered on tribal land and members of the Osage Nation were killed off, ultimately leading to the involvement of the agency that would become the FBI. In addition to marking yet another collaboration between Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Robert De Niro, the film also serves as a mainstream introduction to Lily Gladstone, who landed an Oscar nod for her portrayal of Mollie Burkhart. In total, "Killers of the Flower Moon" earned 10 Academy Award nominations.

Maestro

One of the two biopics to garner a best picture nomination this year, "Maestro" details the life of legendary composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein. Directed by Bradley Cooper, the film specifically focuses on Bernstein's (Cooper) complex relationship with his wife, Felicia Montealegre (Carey Mulligan). Cooper and Mulligan were nominated for their work, leaving the film with seven Academy Award nominations. Unlike the other options on this list, "Maestro" is exclusively streaming on Netflix and unavailable to rent or buy through other online services.

Oppenheimer

"Oppenheimer," the other biographical film on this list, broke biopic box office records two months into its theatrical run when it out-grossed "Bohemian Rhapsody." From director Christopher Nolan, the movie follows J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy) and his work on the Manhattan Project. The film details Oppenehimer's story and the creation of the atomic bomb in two distinctive timelines blended together, calling into question the historical horrors of the past. "Oppenheimer" tops the Academy Award nomination charts with 13 nominations, including acting nods for Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., and Emily Blunt.

Past Lives

In "Past Lives," director Celine Song blends facts from her own life with fiction for her feature directorial debut. The film follows a woman (Greta Lee) who lives in New York with her husband (John Magaro). When her childhood sweetheart (Teo Yoo) – whom she was separated from after her family moved away from South Korea and she changed her name – comes to visit, she is thrust into a love triangle that makes her question everything. In addition to best picture, the film is up for best original screenplay at the Oscars.

Poor Things

Yorgos Lanthimos' latest film is a Frankenstein-esque tale. In "Poor Things," a woman (Emma Stone) undergoes a brain transplant and quickly learns the ways of the world. After reaching relative maturity, she sets out on a sex-filled odyssey of self-exploration. Steampunk and genre-bending, the movie gained traction for its stunning visuals. While Stone has received the bulk of the accolades, the Academy also nominated Mark Ruffalo for his supporting work. In total, the film earned 11 Oscar nominations, including best director.

Streaming on Hulu from March 7. Buy it on Apple TV+, Prime Video or Vudu. UK viewers can find it on Disney+.

Man smoking cigar
Christian Friedel in "The Zone of Interest."

The Zone of Interest

Sandra Hüller (of "Anatomy of a Fall" fame) is once again at the helm of a best picture nominee in "The Zone of Interest." The film follows Auschwitz commandant Rudolf Höss (Christian Friedel) and his wife Hedwig (Hüller) as they attempt to raise their family next to the concentration camp. The family chillingly moves through their idyllic lives with little care for anything else, and the movie ultimately shines a skeptical light on those complicit in the horrors of the Holocaust. "The Zone of Interest" received five Academy Award nominations, including best international feature film.

Now playing in theaters. Buy it on Apple TV+, Prime Video, or Vudu.

How to watch the best picture nominees from anywhere

If you can't access these streaming options from where you currently are, it might be time to try a VPN (virtual private network). VPNs alter your device's location so that you can access websites and apps that might otherwise be geo-restricted. Plus, they're solid ways to boost your online privacy. We recommend ExpressVPN, a tried and true option with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Check out our ExpressVPN review and see the highlights below.

Note: The use of VPNs is illegal in certain countries, and using VPNs to access region-locked streaming content might constitute a breach of the terms of use for certain services. Insider does not endorse or condone the illegal use of VPNs.
