‘Whatcha Packin’ for ‘Drag Race 16’ episode 9: Plasma brings joy to the set with Michelle Visage

Each week on “Whatcha Packin’,” Michelle Visage interviews the recently eliminated queen and shows us some of the runway looks they didn’t get the chance to use on the show. Following her episode 9 elimination, Plasma shares her love for musical theater with Michelle and speaks appreciatively of her time on the show. Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.

In her interview with Michelle, Plasma describes a childhood growing up in a small town in northeast Texas in a home with parents that were fully supportive of their queerness. Plasma shared a specific story about how her mother hosted a dinner party where she declared at the dining table that her own parents will be supportive of her gay son if they want to be part of his life. Plasma went on to feel supported at the University of Oklahoma as well where she got to see drag shows from Kennedy Davenport and Alyssa Edwards at queer alumni events.

Plasma auditioned for the show once because she only wanted to be on the show if she had the “self awareness to be able to receive criticism” without feeling overwhelmed by it. She also reveals that for “Snatch Game” Plasma also considered Bernadette Peters and Jennifer Coolidge as options and winning “The Sound of Rusic” challenge felt like “a match made in heaven.” Plasma brought Princess Leia, bedazzled Texas chaps, glam red gown looks to the set to show Michelle what she never got a chance to wear on the runway.
