Opelousas man arrested on drug and weapons charges

OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) – An Opelousas man was arrested on drug charges and possession of a machine gun.

According to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, narcotics detectives conducted a “knock-and-talk” at a residence located in the 1300 block of Parkview Drive in Opelousas on Wednesday. Information was received that Bryan “P-Man” Gabriel was distributing large amounts of marijuana. One of the residents gave verbal permission to search the residence.

Detectives found marijuana and money in a wash house attached to the residence. Detectives then stopped the search and obtained a search warrant. During the search, detectives found 25 bags of marijuana packaged to sell, one Wise Arms 556 pistol, $4,583 and one Glock 22 .40 caliber pistol, equipped with a switch which allows the pistol to fire fully automatic. It was later learned that the Glock 22 was reported stolen in 2018.

Bryan Gabriel, 27 of Opelousas was arrested and then booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail on the following charges:

• Possession with intent to distribute schedule I CDS\
• Possession of drug paraphernalia
• Illegal carrying of weapons (2)
• Possession of a machine gun
• Illegal possession of stolen firearms
• Transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses
