Ian Wright expects Spurs to edge out Crystal Palace at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this afternoon.
Tottenham’s shock 2-1 loss to Wolves saw them drop out of the top four places and the fact that the Lilywhites did not play last weekend has meant that Aston Villa have built up a five-point lead, although Spurs do have a game in hand.
Ange Postecoglou’s side would thus see the home clash against Palace as a must-win in order to put pressure on the Villans before they travel to Luton Town later in the day.
The Spurs boss would want to see a response from his players after their poor showing against Gary O’Niel’s side but the Lilywhites potentially face a tricky challenge as they take on a new-look Palace side, with Oliver Glasner now at the helm.
The new manager bounce might make this fixture tricky for Tottenham but Wright expects the home side to emerge with all three points.
When asked to predict the result, the former Arsenal striker simply told Stick to Football podcast: “I think Spurs will beat them. Tottenham 2-1.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham have tended to start quite poorly over recent weeks, often conceding first and needing to chase the game. That is not something we can afford to do against Palace, who will be well-organised and pose a threat on the counter.
Postecoglou will want his players to come racing out of the blocks and put the away side under pressure. An early goal for Spurs will force Palace to come out of their shell and make our tasks a lot easier.
