A BEAUTY pro has a great dupe for La Mer’s luxury face cream that will save you a ton of money.
She said her $9 product makes her skin baby-soft, and it’s only missing one ingredient to perfectly match the $200 moisturizer.
TikToker Deanna Cee (@deanna_cee) is keen on keeping her skin plump and moisturized without breaking the bank.
Deanna showed a video of herself doing her skincare routine.
She put a few dots of Nivea’s body cream and rubbed it on her skin.
“When the old ladies who have soft skin and the TikTok skin chemist person lady said the Nivea Creme is like La Mer without their seaweed,” she wrote.
Deanna was referring to cosmetic chemist Carley Musleh, whose video garnered 4 million views after she tested Le Mar against Nivea.
“In the hydration test, Creme de La Mer had an increase of 23%,” Musleh determined, “whereas Nivea Soft had a 95% increase.”
While Nivea won the hydration test, they had the same percentage of transepidermal water loss or TEWL.
It’s when water evaporates through the skin, according to Cerave.
The only main difference that La Mer has is the algae extract, which could have anti-aging and anti-inflammatory properties, according to the National Library of Medicine.
Commenters on Deanna’s TikTok told her she could get the full effects of La Mer by using Nivea with The Ordinary’s Marine Hyaluronics.
So skincare enthusiasts can pay $200 for La Mer at Sephora.
Or, they can buy Nivea from CVS for $8.99 and Marine Hyaluronics for $9.20.
People in Deanna’s comments section agreed that Nivea was the way to go.
“I had a patient who was 102 she looked fabulous…she said Nivea was the way,” one said.
“Blue tin Nivea and Creme de la Mer have the same moisturizing formula,” a second wrote.
“I work with elderly patients. I consistently ask the ladies with the nicest skin what they use. It’s ALWAYS Nivea,” a third added.
