Monty On Taking Chances, Ross County & Team Selection
Nick Montgomery believes his side go into this weekend’s game against Ross County full of confidence.
The Hibees have picked up four points from their last two games and have put in a string of positive performances leading into Saturday’s cinch Premiership game at Easter Road.
When speaking to Hibs TV, Monty believes those eye-catching displays will give the players extra momentum.
“We go in full of confidence, but know it’ll be a really difficult game. They’ve picked up in form since Don Cowie came in, but we go into full of confidence knowing we’ve been building momentum. It’s a case of continuing to do what we’ve been doing and putting in those performances.
“We should’ve had more points than what we’ve got, but elements of that have been out of our control. What’s in our control, is making sure we play well and score the chances that we’ve been creating.
“If anything, that’s been the only disappointment, is that we haven’t scored more goals from the chances that we’ve been creating. That’s been the message this week.”
Ross County currently sit 11th in the Scottish top-flight with 23 points from 27 games, four points below 10thplaced St Johnstone.
Like Hibs, though, the Staggies have also collected four points from their last two games as they aim to move away from the Relegation Play-Off spot.
The Hibees drew with Ross County 2-2 at Easter Road earlier this season, and Montgomery is expecting another tough battle on Saturday.
“They’ve got a good squad, some strong players, and good energy. We don’t expect anything other than a tough game.
“As always, we will give them respect, but it’s about us, how we turn up and how we perform.
“I’m hoping we can full Easter Road and get the crowd behind us; they’ve been fantastic the last few weeks and really helped us put in good performances.” - null
In what’s our third game in a week, Montgomery is closely assessing his squad’s fitness ahead of selecting his side.
“It’s been a big week, we’ve had three games, and we’ve got a week before we play Rangers in the Scottish Cup, so it’s important that we put the strongest team out we can this weekend.
“It’s always about the team that starts and the way the subs impact the game. I’m looking forward to naming the team, the bench, and putting in a good performance.”
