Match Preview: Farnborough vs Yeovil Town
Farnborough start off March with a tough battle against League leaders Yeovil Town at the Saunders Transport Community Stadium.
After losing all their games in January, Boro went undefeated in February, picking up two wins and three draws.
The most recent result being a 1-1 draw at home to high-flying Chelmsford City. Hady Ghandour opened the scoring for The Yellows in the 25th minute as he rounded Henry Gray in the visiting goal and tapped into an empty net. The Clarets equalised in first half stoppage time, with Charlie Ruff heading in from a corner kick. Despite both sides having chances in the second half, neither were able to gain the upper hand and the game ended 1-1. Farnborough are now 13th in the table.
Yeovil Town’s last fixture was also against Chelmsford City. Charlie Ruff’s 71st minute strike proved to be the difference as the Essex outfit edged past their opponents to close the gap at the top of the table to eleven points.
Looking ahead to The Glovers’ arrival, Boro boss Spencer Day had this to say: “Well, there’s nothing tougher. It’s a great, great side. They’ve almost won the League.
“When we went there, I thought we were bright, but we still got beat. It’s a really exciting day for everyone involved with the football club.”
The Yellows will have to be aware of Yeovil Town’s strong form on the road this season. Mark Cooper’s men have picked up eight wins, three draws and five losses on the road this season – the fifth best away form in the League.
However, Boro still have the fifth best home form this season with nine wins, six draws and two defeats on their own patch.
The previous meeting this season was a six goal thriller at Huish Park. Rhys Murphy and Jordan Young gave the Somerset hosts a two goal lead, before Selim Saied pulled it back to 2-1 just before half-time. Jordan Young got his second and third goals of the game to make it 4-1, before Yellows substitute Connor Hall scored a consolation goal in stoppage time.
