Inside the abandoned water park left to rot after being buried in sand
A water park in South Africa has been abandoned and left to rot after sand covered the entire resort.
The Macassar Beach Pavilion in Cape Town was a popular family destination, but it was soon deserted and left to fall into disrepair.
Pictures from inside the abandoned resort show buildings and slides almost completed filled with sand.
Meanwhile roofs and walls have collapsed and windows taken in.
Former kiosks, changing rooms and swimming pools can all still be seen.
The parts of the park which do remain are now covered in graffiti, as people break into the derelict resort to explore.
Those who do visit the area are left with an eerie feeling as the creepy remains of the park overlook the white sand beaches of Macassar.
It sits in the Macassar Dunes Conservation Area located near Strand, a seaside resort town in the Western Cape.
The 2,760 acre reserve is home to the largest and highest dune system in the Cape Peninsula.
It protects the sand dune and unique fynbos in the area.
This includes the last remaining forest of white milkwood trees in Cape Town.
