AN outdoor enthusiast revealed his DIY methods to banish animals from his yard.
All he uses are four cheap household kitchen items that will get critters out of your garden for good.
John VanDerLaan from the DeerHuntingGuide explained how he uses four affordable kitchen staples to banish deer and rabbits from his backyard.
The last thing you want getting into your vegetable patch or fresh flowers are those animals, so he shared his tricks to solve that issue once and for all.
EGGS
The first common item on the list are eggs, which are “offensive and alarming” to the outdoor creatures and deter them from feeding or exploring.
Eggs produce a strong, sulfurous odor when they decompose.
GARLIC POWDER
John added that they highly dislike the strong aroma of garlic.
“You can sprinkle garlic powder directly around the perimeter of your garden, or on the soil near the plants,” he suggested.
He offered another easy DIY method, which is to mix garlic powder with water and a binding agent like oil or soap.
Then, spray it directly onto plant leaves so it “adheres better” and isn’t easily washed away.
CAYENNE PEPPER
Cayenne pepper is also natural repellent with a spicy capsaicin content.
You can also sprinkle the powder around your garden, or create a spray just like above.
You can also swap out the pepper for cinnamon, which is equally as unpleasant for deer or rabbits.
If you combine all three ingredients, you have a stronger natural repellent for any creature that tries to get into your backyard.
DIY Recipe

2. For each gallon of water, add a cup of milk, plus a tablespoon of garlic powder and cayenne pepper.

COFFEE GROUNDS
Coffee has a multitude of uses as a skincare aid as well as breakfast favorite.
John said that its “strong smell and bitter taste” make them unappealing to both deer and rabbits.
Just like the other powder, you can place the coffee grounds around your backyard.
There is also a sustainable and eco-friendly benefit by being a great way to repurpose waste.
Instead of throwing them away, coffee grounds can enrich your soil with nitrogen, which promotes plant growth.
John admitted that there is a likelihood that the deer may adapt to the scent, so regularly rotate the repellents.
“They also dislike mint, chives, dill, citrus, and chili pepper, while rabbits hate crushed red pepper and Tabasco sauce,” he said.
