PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A Milwaukie man claimed a winning Megabucks ticket on Monday -- scoring the retiree $8.4 million, Oregon Lottery announced.
After buying his ticket from a Fred Meyer in Gladstone for the Jan. 24 drawing, 68-year-old David Schultze says he didn't know he was sitting on the millions until he checked his ticket on Feb. 23.
After spending his weekend in shock, Schultze claimed his prize on Monday, according to the Oregon Lottery.
“He doesn’t play much, but when he sees the jackpot ‘getting up there,’ he can’t help but buy a ticket – just in case,” Oregon Lottery said.
Schultze says he want to invest most of his winnings and doesn’t plan on any big splurges.
Oregon Lottery says Megabucks has some of the most favorable jackpot game odds in the world.
