SERGIO AGUERO says he will need to have many more tests if he is to come out of retirement and play for his boyhood club Independiente.
The Manchester City legend was forced to hang up his boots in December 2021 due to a previously undetected heart condition.
However, he has been having regular checks and recently revealed his heart specialist had said he would not have a problem playing a few minutes.
Aguero then joked he was waiting for a call from his boyhood club Independiente – who are currently managed by his old pal Carlos Tevez.
His former City team-mate said the door was always open for Kun to come and train with them to see if there was any possibility.
But the 35-year-old insists that while doctors are happy with the progress he has made, he does not have the green light to return.
He said: “Sometimes things are invented. I repeat that the cardiologist said that I am well, that it is important that I am in good health.
“But to return to training at the First Division level, I would need to undergo a lot of tests.”
Aguero began his career as a teenager at Independiente in 2003 and always said he would like to finish his career there – before it was cut short in unforeseen circumstances at the age of 33.
Tevez who spent two-and-a-half years alongside him at City said he would welcome him with open arms at the Argentinian top flight club.

He said: “Who doesn’t want to have Kun. I do – first as a team-mate and now as a coach, even if it was just for 10 or 15 minutes.”
However, Aguero has now distanced himself from reports he is about to pull his boots on again.
The Argentine forward became Man City’s all-time top scorer after nine years at the club.
In his spell at the Etihad, Aguero scored 260 goals and won 18 trophies including five Premier League titles and became one of the best strikers in the world.
Aguero announced his departure from City in 2021 and joined Barcelona on a free transfer.
After suffering from a heart arrhythmia during his first start for the Catalans in December 2021 against Alaves, Aguero was forced to retire early.
Aguero admitted he had suffered a heart problem in training ten days before the shocking incident.
On finishing his career at the team where it all began 21 years ago, he said: ”The idea was to be able to come [to Independiente] for six months or a year.”
Tevez and Aguero were members of the squad that won Manchester City their first Premier League title during the 2011-2012 season.
