WHILST age is just a number, getting older has it’s downsides like wrinkles and thinning hair.
If you want boost your barnet, a dermatologist has revealed that she managed to get luscious locks for just a fiver.
Like many women, Dr. Neera struggled with hair loss as she got older.
Even with access to some of the best items on the market and medical training, the dermatologist still worried about her disappearing locks.
Despite it coming out in clumps and experiencing a ‘ton’ of hair loss in the last few years, the US doctor says things dramatically improved after changing her haircare routine.
Keen to protect her fragile hair, Dr Neera began using a leave-in conditioner with heat protection built in to stop any additional damage.
Whilst this sounds too good to be true, the beauty buy helps to protect the keratin in your hair which gives your hair its strength and elasticity.
It also has the bonus benefits of locking in extra moisture, as well as helping to smooth the hair cuticle leaving hair softer, shiner and frizz free.
Dr Neera even had a few tips and tricks for incorporating leave-in conditioner in your routine and reduce the amount of breakage.
After applying the hair product, she will often blow dry her hair on a low setting and ensure that she keeps the dryer at least 15cm (6 inches) away from her scalp.
Once her hair is almost dry, there is still enough product left behind for the medic to style her hair and get a silky smooth texture.
For those who still aren’t sold on using leave-in-conditioner, you can pick up Aussie’s best-selling SOS Instant Heat Saviour Hair spray for less than a tenner.
Whilst it usually retails for £6.99 in Boots, those with an Advantage Card can get the conditioning spray for just £5 in stores.
If you are still struggling with hair loss, the medic had plenty of other recommendations including applying rosemary oil to her roots.
One of the biggest beauty trend of 2023, the Harvard-trained expert claims that this holistic treatment can help ‘stimulate’ hair growth.
Dr Neera also recommends using Nizoral or similar anti-dandruff shampoos if you are struggling with hair loss.
Though they don’t necessarily smell great, these medicated shampoos can help to tackle underlying irritation thanks to active ingredients like Ketoconazole.
The dermatologist will then follow this up by dermarolling areas where her hair is noticeable thin, as this can help stimulate new growth.
For maximum results, she recommends using a device with 0.25mm – 0.5mm needles and gentle passing the beauty tool over her scalp in different directions before moving on the next section.
She will also combine this with Minoxidil foam twice a week to reduce thinning areas that may remain.
If you are tempted to try the beauty gadget yourself, just ensure to sanitise your dermaroller with rubbing alcohol before and after every use.
Seems like this expert has found a way to finally banish bad hair days.
