Lucas Bergvall’s teammate Albin Ekdal has said that the midfielder is worth every penny that Tottenham Hotspur paid to land him.
Tottenham had to see off competition from the likes of Barcelona (Sport), Eintracht Frankfurt (BILD) as well as Aston Villa and Wolves (Fotboll Direkt) to land Bergvall.
According to Expressen, the Lilywhites will pay an initial fee of £8.4m for the teenager, with the deal also containing several add-ons.
The outlet explained that the agreement includes £3.7m of ‘easy’ bonuses while Tottenham would also have to pay for an additional £4.3m if the player is successful at the club, thus potentially bringing the total fee to £16.4m.
That is certainly a huge fee for someone who has only had six months of senior football in the Swedish top flight but the midfielder demonstrated during Djurgardens in the 5-0 win over United Nordic in the Svenksa Cup clash on Sunday just why he is valued so highly.
The youngster netted a brace, including an unbelievable solo effort, where he dribbled past six players before keeping his composure to turn the ball home.
Speaking after the game, his teammate Ekdal told Aftonbladet about Bergvall: “He showed incredible talent today. He is showing that he is worth the money that Tottenham bought him for, so it will be exciting to follow him and play with him for a few months before he flies off to Europe. He has a great future.”

It is difficult not to get carried away when you hear how every single player who has played with Bergvall speaks about his talent. It seems like Tottenham might have another gem on their hands and in Postecoglou, the midfielder has the perfect coach to give him the platform to express himself and fulfil his potential.
