IF you’ve spent your morning perfecting your makeup only to find it has creased by lunchtime, this hack may be for you.
A beauty fan tested a popular no-creasing technique to see if it works on more mature skin.
In her video, Lou (@40slifelou) demonstrated each step of the makeup hack.
“Powder before foundation for the over 40s, is it a yes or is it a no?” the TikToker asked her viewers.
“I’ve seen this trend knocking around on TikTok and I generally find that the ones doing this type of technique are younger.
“I’ve seen so many people rave about this particular way of applying your skin makeup because apparently, it keeps your makeup in place all day.”
Lou added that the trick stops your complexion from getting oily, and it prevents creasing of the foundation.
She explained that she wanted to check if the hack “works when you’ve actually got creases on your face.”
For the first step, Lou applied the $15 Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré.
“It’s my absolute go-to and my holy grail, I’m just going to apply this to the entirety of my face and let it [absorb] before we go to step two,” she said.
Next, she used the $7 Vitamin Babe Setting Powder and let it absorb on her face.
“I’m not going to go in for a full-on bake, I’m just going to make sure that my brush has got plenty of powder on it and then just pat it into the face,” Lou explained.
“I want it to be evenly distributed and any excess to be removed by the brush.”
She also applied a $15 Glow Milk Seal and Set Mist spray, which she said dried quickly with the powder.
“I’ve got to let this dry on the face before I then apply my foundation,” Lou said.
For her final step, she applied the $14 Skin Silk Serum Foundation from Revolution.
“I’m impressed with this so far, this is giving a lovely application,” she told her followers.
“I was expecting to see a little bit of separation here or a little bit of cakiness but look at the skin, I’d say that this works, that’s a beautiful result.
“If you’ve got an event where you want to look super flawless and you need your makeup to stay in place and look super duper airbrushed, I would say that this is a technique that you should definitely follow.”
Her followers shared their thoughts on the technique in the comments section.
‘Absolutely, I tried this and it is a game changer!!” wrote one impressed viewer.
“I’ve done this since I started work at 18, I’m a dental nurse and I was sick of makeup coming off on my face mask, it stays on all day with no transfer,” said another TikTok user.
‘Looks fabulous. Let’s see if it works on my 53-year-old skin,” commented a third person.
