Houston (24-3, 11-3) is the new No. 1 in Monday’s AP Top 25 men’s college basketball poll with UConn falling out of that spot.
The Cougars take over the top spot after defeating No. 8 Iowa St. and No. 15 Baylor.
Purdue comes in at No. 2 and the Huskies come in at No. 3 after dropping two spots. The Huskies went 1-1 during the past week which included a 85-66 loss to No. 12 Creighton.
Then, Tennessee moved up one spot to No. 4 and Marquette rounds out the top-5 moving up two spots after decisive wins over Xavier and DePaul.
Despite a disappointing 80-66 loss to St. John’s on Sunday, the Blue Jays were one of the top risers jumping three spots thanks to their big win over the Huskies earlier in the week. Auburn also jumped three spots from No. 14 to No. 11.
On the list of fallers, Dayton was the biggest one falling from No. 16 to No. 21 after a 71-67 loss to George Mason. Next was Baylor who fell from No. 11 to No. 15 after losses to Houston and BYU.
Utah State (No. 22), Gonzaga (No. 23), and South Florida (No. 25) are all new additions to the top-25 this week.
