HENDERSON, La. (KLFY) -- A fundraising event will be held on Saturday for Kole Hebert, the Breaux Bridge High School student critical injured in a January shooting.
On Jan. 6, Hebert was paralyzed from the neck down following a shooting incident. Hebert was a senior at Breaux Bridge High School, and set to graduate this May. He had also received a baseball scholarship to LSU Eunice, where he would begin attendance in the fall.
Hebert's mother said that due to where the bullet hit, Hebert's C5 vertebrate was shattered and is now a quadriplegic. In addition, he has a comprised respiratory system and trach, causing him to be on a ventilator, and has developed a stage 3 bed sore. To help alleviate the medical expenses and equipment necessities, the family and community will hold a fundraising event with an abundance of activities.
The event will be held at the Henry Guidry Memorial Park in Henderson from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. on Saturday March, 2. A car show, cornhole tournament and wild game cookoff will all be featured at the event, in addition to live music, a color run, auctions and much more. Information for the auction and other events can be found here.
A GoFundMe was previously made to help the Hebert family with medical expenses, and the page is still active. If you would like to make a donation, you can access the page here.
