Pedestrian hospitalized after being hit by car in Bloomfield
A man was hospitalized after he was hit by a car in Bloomfield on Monday evening, police said.
Officers responded to the intersection of Cottage Grove Road and Tyler Street on the report of a motor vehicle striking a pedestrian around 6:20 p.m. on Monday, according to the Bloomfield Police Department.
Arriving officers provided medical attention to the pedestrian who was lying in the roadway, police said.
According to police, the victim, a 49-year-old man, was breathing but not responding to physical stimuli. Emergency Medical Services transported him to Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford for medical treatment, police said. His condition was unknown at this time.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured and was cooperating with the investigation, according to police.
The driver told officers they had a green traffic light while traveling westbound on Cottage Grove Road and did not see the pedestrian, police said.
Witnesses at the scene also told officers that the vehicle had a green traffic signal to travel through the intersection, according to police.
The incident remains under investigation, police said.
