Coronation Street shock as popular couple split after decades

AN ICONIC Coronation Street couple have called it quits tonight after decades together.

The fan favourite coupling of Steve McDonald and Tracy Barlow ended in tonight’s episode after the taxi driver discovered his wife’s affair with Tommy Orpington.

Viewers watched as Steve had the news fo Tracy’s affair broken to him by best mate Tim Metcalfe after she chickened out.

He went home to confront her, but told her that he could forgive her.

But it was Tracy who called time on their marriage, insisting she didn’t want to be forgiven and had no desire to carry on pretending she was happy.

He demanded to know if she was in love with Tommy, but she told him: “No, I’m not. But I do know one thing Steve, I don’t think I love you either anymore. 

“I mean I do love you, but in the way I love this top. I’m not in love with you anymore.”

She added: “I’m tired and I’m bored and I’ve had enough. Enough of waking up in the morning and it’s all downhill from there. 

“Enough of this house and its geriatric furniture. And enough of the street with everyone having an opinion. And enough of you Steve. 

“I’m sorry, I don’t hate you, I’m not even sick of you. You’re a decent bloke and you still make me laugh. 

“But you’re a cardigan Steve and I need a wardrobe change. I’m sorry Steve but it’s time to call it a day.”

Steve begged Tracy to give him another chance, insisting they could work well together.

But she tried to let him down gently, telling him that if she couldn’t make it work with him then she couldn’t make it work with anyone.

She said: “Steve I want you to be happy and you’re not going to be that with me. I’m sorry babe.”

The couple first got together in the early noughties when they had a one night stand resulting in daughter Amy being born.

After years of ups and downs the couple remarried in 2018 and have been together ever since. Until now that is.
