CT animal shelter seeking help after woman caught on camera dumping dog
East Haven Animal Shelter is asking the public to help identify a woman who was caught on camera dumping a dog on a road near the New Haven town line.
The shelter posted surveillance video of the incident on its Facebook page on Saturday.
On the video, the woman can be seen getting out of the passenger side of a blue SUV, pulling a small energetic dog along on a leash and letting the dog off the leash behind the vehicle. A person walks by and the dog runs to the person, wagging its tail. The passerby continues on and the dog runs around the SUV. The woman gets back in the car and it drives off. The dog, standing in the middle of the street, looks around then runs after the SUV until it’s out of frame.
“If you know the woman in this video, please let her know that her sweet little girl is safe with us,” the shelter said in a Facebook post. “We just can’t understand why you would dump such a sweet little girl like her.”
The shelter said they have license plate information and that the investigation is ongoing.
East Haven police said they don’t have any knowledge of the incident.
