‘Survivor 46’ preview: Venus Vafa plans to ‘be the one giving directions’ [WATCH]
“Survivor 46” contestant Venus Vafa understands that everyone else will enter the game fighting “for the wheel,” but the 24 year old data analyst from Toronto has a plan to “call shotgun” instead so that she’s “the one giving directions.” Watch their full CBS preview interview above.
The biggest hurdle that Venus will have to overcome, she says, is that “based off of looks, they already assume I’m someone who’s been handed things her whole life.” She goes on to explain why that “couldn’t be any further from the truth.” As young adults, her parents emigrated from Iran to Canada in order to provide their daughter with a better life.
Through her family history, Venus has found a love for immigration law and “something that really speaks to [her] is helping refugees.” The experience of not looking like everyone around her can create the feeling of not knowing if you “have a space” in the world, so Venus wants to “be that representation that [she] didn’t have growing up.” She is empowered by the women in Iran today fighting for their rights and says that “if [she has] those women in [her] blood, there’s nothing [she] can’t accomplish.”

The new season features 18 new players divided into three tribes and they’ll vote each other out until only one remains on Day 26 as the $1 million winner.
