A man was arrested and charged with attempted murder following a stabbing during a gymnastics meet in Glastonbury on Sunday, police said.
Officers were dispatched to the Academy Building at 2141 Main St. just after 11:30 a.m. Sunday for a report of a disturbance between two males, according to the Glastonbury Police Department.
An initial investigation determined that 52-year-old Marcus McDaniel was attending a local gymnastics event at the Academy Building when he became engaged in an altercation with the victim, whom
McDaniel knew, polcie said.
McDaniel and the victim reportedly exited the gymnasium and continued the altercation in the hallway where it escalated into a physical altercation. According to police, McDaniel stabbed the victim in the presence of minors.
Arriving officers found the male victim who was stabbed, police said. He was taken to the hospital for treatment, according to police.
Police obtained an arrest warrant for McDaniel. He turned himself in to police around 9:51 p.m. on Sunday and was charged with criminal attempted murder, first-degree assault, breach of peace and risk of injury to a minor.
McDaniel was being held on a $1 million bond and was scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Monday.
Police said it was an isolated incident and there was no danger to the public.
