Milan 1-1 Atalanta
Rafael Leão is in sensational form with AC Milan, with the Portuguese adding another stunning goal in the Rossoneri’s 1-1 draw against Atalanta on Sunday evening.
Leão recently scored in both legs of Milan’s Europa League tie against Rennes, finding the net in stylish fashion in each game. The forward followed that up by putting Milan ahead in just the 3rd minute against Atalanta at San Siro on Sunday.
Receiving the ball on the left of the field, Leão broke past two defenders and drove into the penalty area, before dispatching a clinical finish which flew into the top corner past Marco Carnesecchi. Atalanta came away with a point thanks to a highly contentuos penalty awarded shortly before half time despacted by Teun Koopmeiners.
“It was probably [Leão’s] best game of the season, above all for his consistency,” Milan boss Stefano Pioli told reporters after the match. “He always had these moments, but tonight he showed the right intensity throughout and also helped out when defending.
“It all comes from his mentality, his belief, and he must try to always be this kind of player, because he is capable of it.”
Leão now has four goals from his last three matches in all competitions, but the strike against Atalanta was his first in Serie A since September. The former Sporting man currently has 4 goals in the league, compared to 15 scored last season.
