The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office arrested Jose Guity, 25, of Queens, on February 23.
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office arrested Jose Guity, 25, of Queens, on February 23. The Sheriff's Office reported that Guity fled after being stopped on I-87 in Saratoga Springs due to an unsafe lane change.
Guity was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, moving lane unsafely, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Law enforcement says that when the deputy approached Guity's car, the car allegedly fled northbound on I-87, where it exited at exit 14.
He is accused of traveling westbound on route 9P in the eastbound lane while going 75 miles per hour in a 30-mile-per-hour zone. The car allegedly continued on route 9P before stopping abruptly and Guity allegedly fled on foot in the Yaddo Gardens area. The sheriff's office says he was taken into custody shortly after a brief foot pursuit.
Guity was arraigned in Saratoga Springs City Court. He was placed in the custody of the Saratoga County Jail pending further action in the case.
