Vicario says Spurs teammate is already one of the best in the world at 21 years of age
Guglielmo Vicario has said that Destiny Udogie is already up there with the best left-backs in world football, insisting that the sky is the limit for his compatriot.
While there was some excitement at Spurs ahead of Udogie’s arrival last summer (he was loaned back to Udinese last season), not many people would have expected the youngster to perform we well as he has in his debut Premier League campaign.
Despite being just 21 years of age, the Italy international has seamlessly adapted to the demands of the inverted full-back role in Ange Postecoglou’s system and is growing in confidence with every game.
It was clear in Tottenham’s 2-1 loss to Wolves just how important the youngster is to the side, with Ben Davies struggling to provide the same sport of penetration that we have been used to from the former Udinese man.
Vicario is a big fan of Destiny Udogie
Vicario revealed that he tries to push Udogie to work hard on his game regularly, insisting that he has all the attributes to evolve into a superstar.
The Tottenham number one told FourFourTwo about the defender: “We have a great relationship because we’re Italian – we spend loads of time together at the training ground.
“I try to push him to do extra work, maybe not just to train but also to come with me to the gym, because he’s got huge potential. He can still improve a lot.
“He’s not simply one of the best left-backs in the Premier League, but also the world. He’s only 21, so he must have the drive inside him to improve day by day – I try to push him.
“He’s a very good lad, an unbelievable player, and he has all the qualities to reach the top – he’s quick, he has superb technique, he’s a good defender and attacker… he has everything.”

Vicario is as professional and driven as they came and having someone like the goalkeeper alongside him at Tottenham can only be good for Udogie’s maturation and development both on and off the pitch.
