‘Survivor 46’ preview: Hunter McKnight is ‘out here to have a good time’ [WATCH]
“Survivor 46” contestant Hunter McKnight has a clear social strategy going into the game. The 28 year old science teacher from Mississippi is in it to win it, but wants to give the impression that he’s just “out here to have a good time.” Watch their full CBS interview above.
What Hunter plans to mask from his castmates is that he’s a “a mental person.” He says “there won’t be any advertising” that he went to medical school because he wants to “climb coconut trees and build a shelter” so that it “comes across that [he’s] having so much fun out here.” His vision is that as long as the other players think he’s not focused on winning that he’ll be able to fly under the radar.
One concern in the back of Hunter’s mind is what his students will think if he’s voted out first. He describes the laugh they’d get out of seeing their teacher in his underwear in Fiji only to be eliminated quickly. “High school kids are mean,” he exclaims, but making the switch from his plans to be a doctor and to teach instead is a decision he’s proud of because he “gets to bring confidence into kids’ lives.”
Don’t miss Hunter compete as an original member of the Nami tribe sporting this season’s orange buff when “Survivor 46” premieres with two-hour episodes on Wednesday, February 28 and Wednesday, March 6, followed by 90-minute episodes thereafter. The new season features 18 new players divided into three tribes and they’ll vote each other out until only one remains on Day 26 as the $1 million winner.
