PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — False spring 2024 has arrived just in time for the weekend.
KOIN 6 Meteorologist Kelley Bayern says that periods of sunshine and near-60-degree temperatures will warm Portlanders between Thursday and Saturday. Thursday and Friday are forecast for a high of 57 degrees with patches of clouds and sunshine. However, temperatures could go as high as 60 degrees. Saturday will see a high of 55 degrees with continued sunshine.
“The month of February typically brings chilly temps, soggy days, and the occasional snowstorm to Portland,” Bayern said. “However, it is not unusual to see a high-pressure pattern setting up to bring in quiet, mild and sunny conditions too. Daytime highs may briefly touch the 60s, which is more typical of the weather we see in April.”
The brief period of mild weather, known as a false spring, will live up to its name as colder temperatures are forecast to return Sunday and continue into next week.
