BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A 28-year-old Amherst man was arraigned on multiple charges for his alleged involvement in a fatal shooting in the City of Buffalo's Allentown neighborhood, the Erie County District Attorney's Office announced.
Nigel L. Flint was arraigned Tuesday on one count of murder in the second degree and one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
In September 2023, at approximately 4 a.m., police responded to the scene on the 200 block of Allen Street where a 28-year-old man had been shot, authorities said. They said Flint, allegedly, shot the victim, identified as Darnell J. Lynch, Jr., with an illegal weapon. Lynch died at the scene.
At approximately 4:15 a.m. the same day, authorities said police saw a vehicle traveling in the wrong way on Mariner Street, a short distance away from the scene of the homicide investigation. Authorities said a loaded, illegal handgun was allegedly found inside the vehicle during a search and submitted into evidence.
In January 2024, authorities said Flint was located in Detroit, Michigan where he was taken into custody on an indictment warrant. Flint was returned to Western New York in mid-February to face prosecution.
Flint is scheduled to return to court on March 4 for a pre-trial conference and was held without bail. If convicted of the highest charge, he faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison.
