Heaven by Marc Jacobs, Kiko Kostadinov, and Asics are dropping a collection of ‘gorpcore’ sneakers with strappy details inspired by Mary Jane silhouettes. The Heaven by Marc Jacobs x Asics Sportstyle collection launches February 22, but we recommend getting up bright and early to secure your size, because Heaven collections tend sell out almost as soon as you can click “add to cart.”
Available in drool-worthy colorways, including Aquamarine, Cosmic Purple, and Washed Gunmetal, the new Gel-Lokros shoe is a trio collaboration between the two beloved brands and Kostadinov, the London-based menswear designer who’s teamed up with both Heaven and Asics in the past. Together, they’ve designed the shoes with star-quilted uppers, shiny side paneling, and haphazard elastic strapping, which nods back to the blockbusting Kiko Kostadinov x Asics Gel-Kiril sneaker. The Gel-Lokros shoes also front Asics Stripes buckle fastening signatures that play into the Mary Jane shoe trend with glittery gel cushioning and outsole traction done in a floral pattern.
The streamlined profile poses as the perfect spring-to-summer shoe, with exceptional Asics Flytefoam Propel midsole cushioning for buoyant toe-offs and landings on city streets, plus Aharplus heel plugs for added durability. They promise to feel light as a feather on the feet while delivering elevated style appeal, resulting in a sneaker-shoe we imagine will shine with knee-high socks and a graphic tee — or with a pair of crisp trousers as a twist on a comfortable dress shoe.
Captured in classic New York City scenes, the campaign is just as quirky and fun as the shoe itself, shot as a love story between model Kiko Mizuhara and her rat companion. With photography by John Yuyi, the imagery follows them from grungy subway cars to glittering Times Square, in endearingly comical adventures anchored by the stylish shoes.
The Heaven by Kiko Kostadinov x Asics Sportstyle collection will be available in store and online at Heaven by Marc Jacobs on Thursday, February 22. But don’t sleep on this drop, because this one-time release is bound to end up on reseller sites for triple the price.
