Antony‘s character Sean Tulley has lived at Eileen’s house for many years and was joined by teenage son Dylan in 2020.
Her other lodgers currently include Mary Taylor and George Shuttleworth, while son Todd has also been living there again since his return in October 2020.
Speaking about the property, Anthony said: “The Grimshaw house has always had something specifically in its DNA and its blueprint.
“Eileen’s house should always be mad and busy and filled with people. And we should always always be left wondering ‘where do they sleep?’
“It has three bedrooms and a front parlour. So that’s the technical answer to that question.
“But the fact that people still say, how many rooms are there in that house? How many people live in that house? That means that it’s fulfilling it’s from 2003 or whatever it was, that the house should be a full mad house. So that’s still all going.”
Antony is currently involved in Corrie’s big bullying storyline, after Sean discovered that son Dylan has been terrorising Maria’s son Liam alongside ringleader Mason.
Speaking about how the confrontational scenes played out in the property, Antony added: “We have me, Eileen, George [Shuttleworth], Mary [Taylor], Dylan [Wilson], Todd [Grimshaw].
“So there is a big full house, which means that when you do a story like this, it’s never just you and them, our house is always involving other people like Eileen, which now by proxy involves George.”
He continued: “So it’s the fact that we’re doing this story with my favourite people. I’ve known ‘Rita Maudsley’ – as I know him – Tony Maudsley for years and it’s a thrill.
“I obviously adore Liam but to be doing it with other people like Patti Clare, who I love the bones of, and Tony Maudsley is dreamy for me because it’s working with my favourite people.”
The actor’s comments come days after a soap forum post revealed what Corrie viewers think each house on the Cobbles smells like.
Thankfully for the Grimshaw clan, their house was left off the rather unusual list.
Coronation Street airs on ITV1 and is available on ITVX.
