Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has revealed that Pascal Struijk could be back on the pitch for the Whites after the international break.
The 24-year-old centre-back was a certainty in the Leeds team until December and even wore the captain’s armband in the absence of Liam Cooper in the starting eleven.
However, the Dutchman has been out of action since the end of December with a groin injury and has not been part of a team who have won their last eight league games in a row.
Farke revealed that the medical team have allowed Struijk to further increase his training load and his recovery will be monitored over the next couple of weeks.
The Leeds boss admitted that if there are no setbacks, the defender will be back in training with the rest of the squad soon and should be fit to play after the international break next month.
Asked for an update on Struijk’s rehabilitation, Farke said in a press conference: “Positive, he’s allowed to extend his training load.
“The doctors mentioned over two and two-and-half weeks we have to build him up a bit.
“If everything works in the perfect way, he can be back in team training, then available for games after the international break.”
Ethan Ampadu has seamlessly replaced Struijk at the heart of the Leeds defence over the last few weeks.
