AFC Fylde Head Coach Chris Beech was pleased with his side’s overall performance in their 2-2 draw with Solihull Moors at Mill Farm on Tuesday night.
Despite going two goals up in the first 18 minutes through strikes from Nick Haughton and Danny Ormerod, the Coasters were forced to settle for a point.
Beech said: “I was initially very pleased, we had an excellent first-half and start to the game and should have scored more goals, we were in total control of the football match but just before half-time, we got punished for a mistake.
“I’m really pleased our team represents the hard-working values of this local area because I know our supporters can resonate with it, and they can see that difference, and you see the difference in the league table.
“We’ve done well in recent games, it’s getting the lads to understand that game management, but we could have won it, we hit the bar with Josh (Kay) and Joe (Westley) had an opening himself too. But as the away side, Solihill will probably feel the same too.
“Both teams could argue that they could have gained the three points but from our perspective, it’s great having fighting spirit and coming out playing how we do and scoring the goals we do.
“I’m very thankful that the players are stimulant to working hard every day and in every game.
“We’ve done really well in recent games and there are so many positives along with challenges to take on board and learn from, which I’m sure our players will be better for those experiences in the future setting up the last 12 games of the season.”
For the many staff who work hard at AFC Fylde, Beech reserved praise for Head Groundsman Liam Hutchinson for keeping the playing surface well-maintained as we head towards the closing months of the season.
He added: “Liam has done a great job with the pitch and if you look at the football calendar, a lot of teams have had matches when we have played, so that’s credit to Liam.”
