FROM patchy knees and elbows, to looking like an Oompa Loompa, we’ve all had our fair share of disasters when it comes to fake tanning.
But with so many products available on the market, how do we know which ones REALLY work and are worth our money?
Well, luckily a tanning fan named Talia took to TikTok (@taliamaizels) to rate all of the fake tan she’s ever used.
“Qualifications include tanning for 14 years,” she jokes.
First up, the beauty whizz begins by offering her very honest verdict of the ‘St Moriz 60 minute fast tanning mousse’ and gives it a very respectable 8/10.
“Starting off strong with my tried and tested – leave this on overnight for a deep tan,” she advises.
“Cheap and great for beginners.”
Next up, the 24-year-old discusses ‘Filter by Molly-Mae,’ but she’s not impressed.
Scoring it just 5/10, she notes: “Used to love this but I feel like they’ve changed the formula.
“It’s so hard to scrub off now and goes like tiger bread.”
She goes on to point out that it’s a “very warm” tan so it’s “not amazing for olive undertones.”
Talia then moves on to talk about the ‘L’Oreal Paris Sublime bronze express pro self-tanning dry mist,’ which she gives a measly 1/10.
“The first tan I ever tried and will leave the soles of your feet ORANGE,” she says.
However, the tanning whizz admits she’s a fan of the ‘St Tropez self-tan classic mousse,’ adding: “8/10 – lovely tan, but just too spenny.”
Also achieving an 8/10 on Talia’s scoreboard is ‘Bondi Sands self-tanning foam.’
“A more green tan and a lot of the guide colour washes off so nice if you want a natural tan,” she says.
And Talia can’t speak highly enough of Dove’s visible glow self-tan lotion, which she gives full marks.
“Love this, that is all,” she enthuses.
But one product the beauty guru isn’t keen on it the ‘Tanologist face and body drops,’ which she rates 3/10.
“Nice colour but clings to weird places,” she says. “Legit looks like I have an orange rash and beard.”
For tanning face drops, Talia instead recommends the ‘St Moriz advanced pro tan boosting facial serum,’ which she scores 9/10.
“Can cling if you’re not careful,” she warns. “Nice colour and wears nicely.”
And one product that she can’t recommend enough is the ‘Isle of Paradise self-tanning drops.’
“10/10,” she says. “Nice and even and never patchy. Buildable colour which is fab – my fave!”
And saving her personal favourite until last, she says ‘Revolution tanning aqua tanning mousse,’ which retails at just £11.99, is “10000/10.”
“The holy grail – not for beginners though as no guide colour,” she says.
Reeling off what she loves about the product, she notes: “The colour, the removal, cheap, doesn’t stain your sheets, not patchy, lasts for a week and fades, no tiger bread.”
And when it comes to fake tan remover, Talia believes there’s only one product for the job – the ‘Bondi Sands self tan eraser gel.’
“9.5/10 – my fave tan remover,” she enthuses.
“Pop it on whilst waiting for the bath to fill, give it a scrub and I am pale AF again.”
