In recent weeks, Cait Fitton‘s ITV alter ego has insisted that she has a rich boyfriend who is smothering her with lavish gifts and grand gestures.
And while it’s clear Lauren has someone in her life, despite her telling him to back off, his identity remains a complete mystery.
Lauren also revealed that she turned to O-Vidz in a desperate attempt to make ends meet, although this could mean trouble for her as she is still underage.
In other scenes, Lauren suddenly disappeared from the cobbles after losing her job at Roy’s Rolls and making plans to leave Corrie.
Coming up next week, her love interest Bobby Crawford (played by Jack Carroll) grows increasingly worried for her and he takes action to try and find her.
When Bobby calls at Lauren’s flat again to find there’s no answer, he heads to the police station to report her missing.
Beloved copper Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) promises to make some enquiries – but will Lauren be found?
Is Lauren safe or is there reason for Bobby to be worried for her?
Speaking to The Sun about the storyline during the TV Choice Awards ceremony, Cait Fitton teased some big moments ahead for Lauren – and a “hard-hitting” storyline that will unravel during the next twelve months.
“There’s a lot happening with her [Lauren], I love playing her. Big things are coming for Lauren in 2024”, she first told us.
“With the whole boyfriend thing, I can’t say too much but it is going to unfold over the next year potentially.”
“It’s a heavy storyline but Coronation Street always smash the hard-hitting stuff, so I’m really excited.”
She then explained that her character still has a long way to go before finding her stability in the cobbles, following her chequered past.
Everything you need to know about Coronation Street
“I think with Lauren stability is a massive issue, there’s something missing.”
“Her dad’s not in the picture, her mum’s not in the picture. And I think all Lauren wants is love.”
“She’ll cling onto anything to be loved.”
Cait then added: “there’s a journey she needs to go on, she’s not where I want her to be yet but there’s time.”
“Because she’s such a complex character to play, a lot of people aren’t going to like her.”
But how will everything play out for her?
Coronation Street airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
