The Nation columnist Joan Walsh is worried Tucker Carlson is in crisis after he was lampooned on national television Monday night and she wants him to know testicular tanning is not the answer.
"I's a rough run for Tucker," Walsh told Ari Melber on the heels of a humiliating segment from Daily Show host Jon Stewart. "He's been completely neutered."
Walsh was talking about the much-criticized interview Carlson had with Russian President Vladimir Putin that Stewart harshly criticized as poorly disguised propaganda.
"You aren't as dumb as your face would have us believe," Stewart said, addressing Carlson directly, Monday night.
Walsh argued Putin likely feels he has the power over the MAGA constituency.
"Putin knows he owns these people and he acts accordingly," Walsh said.
This, posited Walsh, must be hard for Carlson.
"Tucker's been all about the end of manhood, masculinity in crisis," she said. "Testicle tanning might be some of that."
Walsh explained Carlson's history promoting the odd procedure.
"I was paid to watch it," she said. "Not paid enough."
