A PERFUME expert has reviewed Target dupes for popular name-brand scents.
Although there were a few fails, he was pleasantly surprised by some great copycats and one YSL dupe that he thought was better than the original.
Paul (@paulreactss) shared his thoughts on the perfumes in a TikTok video.
He picked up every version of the $18 Finery Perfumes at Target to share with viewers which were “worth it.”
First up was the brand’s Body Mist Fragrance Spray in the scent Another Cherry.
“I actually think this is worth it for how affordable and easily accessible it is. If you’re looking for a good cheap cherry, this will do it,” he said.
The scent I’m a Musk, which allegedly was a dupe for Ariana Grande’s Cloud, didn’t pass the test for him.
“I heavily disagree. This is not for me. I don’t think this is good,” he said.
Paul also passed on Sun-phoria, which he described as “lackluster.”
Sweet On the Outside, however, won his approval as a dupe for the $52 Eilish by Billie Eilish.
“I think this smells really similar to Eilish. It has that tonka bean, that vanilla,” he said.
Before the Rainbow also made a great impression on the expert.
“This one has a super clean candy-like scent. I think this may be their most under-hyped one because this is good,” he said.
The line’s dupe for YSL’s $130 Black Opium, Midnight Cafe, impressed him but wasn’t for him personally.
“They did it justice, it smells better than the original Black Opium but this one is just not worth it for me since I’m not a Black Opium fan,” he explained.
Flower Bed, however, took Paul by surprise as someone who typically didn’t enjoy floral scents.
“This smells like Miss Dior and the Chanel perfume mixed together,” he said.
Paul also raved about Pistachio Please, which he said was a spot-on dupe for the $38 Sol de Janeiro’s Cheirosa 62 Perfume Mist.
“I would say a little more nutty and pistachio-y. I would definitely say this one is worth it,” he said.
