MALTA, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- On Monday morning, State Police were involved in a high-speed pursuit on I-87 in Malta. Police observed a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation, but when they tried to stop the vehicle, the driver reportedly sped off at over 100 miles per hour.
The driver, an 18-year-old, eventually pulled over and was taken into custody. Police charged them with unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
There were two adults and an infant in the vehicle. The adults were charged with the misdemeanor of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.
All occupants were transported to SP Saratoga for processing. The three were released with appearance tickets to the Malta Town Court.
