According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, it will not be easy for Tottenham Hotspur to take Ederson away from Atalanta, with the Serie A club having no intention of letting the midfielder leave on the cheap.
Ederson is having an outstanding campaign at the moment, with the midfielder’s stock rising with each passing game.
The versatile Brazilian, who can play as a six, an eight or in a box-to-box role, has six goals to his name across all competitions this season and it was widely reported by various outlets through the January window that Spurs were considering a move for the player (Corriere Della Sera).
Fabrizio Romano explained a couple of weeks ago that Atalanta do not want to lose the 24-year-old next summer and that Tottenham would have to spend big to sign the player (GiveMeSport).
Gazzetta have now become the latest to point out that some Premier League sides are circling over Ederson ahead of the summer, namely Tottenham and Newcastle, who are both following him ‘with some insistence’
However, the report warns that it would be difficult to get the midfielder out of Bergamo, given how well he is performing at the moment.
It is alleged that Gian Piero Gasperini’s men are expected to inform Spurs and the Magpies that it would take ‘at least €45m’ (£38.5m) to sign the former Salernitana man.
The publication further adds that should Atalanta qualify for the Champions League, they could rebuff any offers for Ederson as the club would not want to weaken their squad.

£35m-£40m is a significant fee but by no means something that is beyond Tottenham’s means. The Lilywhites would also have an advantage over Newcastle, who have to be judicious with their spending if they are to ensure they do not fall foul of the Profit and Sustainability Rules.
