New Delhi: Former India captain Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma on Tuesday welcomed their second child, a baby boy named Akaay. Anushka revealed that they were blessed with Akaay on February 15. Earlier, the star couple had given birth to a daughter Vamika in 2018. “With abundant happiness and our hearts full of love, we are pleased to inform everyone that on 15th February, we welcomed our baby boy Akaay & Vamika’s little brother into this world! We seek your blessings and good wishes in this beautiful time in our lives. We request you to kindly respect our privacy at this time. Love & Gratitude. Virat & Anushka,” the couple shared on social media.
While everyone is wishing the mother and the baby a healthy life, the internet is abuzz with Akaay – especially the meaning of the name. The name is of Turkish origin which means ‘Shining Moon.’ In hindi, Akaay is derived from Hindi word ‘kaya’, which means ‘body’.

For the past few months there were rumours about Kohli and Anushka welcoming their second child. However, none of the two went public about. However, Kohli’s former Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate AB de Villiers had leaked the news of Indian star becoming a father for the second time. The former South African skipper apologized later stating he made a blunder in his previous video.
Notably, Kohli has opted out of the ongoing five-match Test series against England. Initially he withdrew from the first two Test matches before ruling him out of the remainder of the series. Kohli’s RCB teammate Rajat Patidar came in as a replacement in the side.
Earlier, BCCI stated that Kohli had spoken with captain Rohit Sharma, the team management and the selectors about his decision. “Virat Kohli has requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to be withdrawn from the first two Tests of the upcoming IDFC First Bank Test series against England, citing personal reasons,” BCCI said in a release.
The board also requested the media and fans to respect Kohli’s privacy during this time and refrain from speculating on the reason of his withdrawal. Kohli was last seen in action in Tests in the second match against South Africa in Cape Town in January, which India won by seven wickets. He had made 46 and 12 in the two innings.
