‘Wasn’t Right’ – Nottingham Forest Interest Addressed By Bundesliga Man

RB Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi has revealed that in spite of interest from Nottingham Forest in January, he felt that the situation was not right for him to leave the Bundesliga club.

 

Despite being charged with breaching sustainability rules, the Tricky Trees showed activity in the January transfer market, trying to bring in players to strengthen their squad to help the relegation fight.

 

The goalkeeping area was one they had their focus on with the Leipzig veteran being targeted as an option to join.

 

 

 

The 33-year-old had found his chances limited in the first half of the season and was linked with a move away.

 

However, he decided to stay put and revealed that the situation was not right to leave Leipzig.

 

 

“The situation wasn’t right. I realised that I could have another chance here”, Gulacsi told Sky Deutschland, with Nottingham Forest interest namechecked by the German broadcaster.

 

“I really appreciate the support within the club and have been living in Leipzig with my family for almost ten years.”

 

 

The decision, Gulacsi feels, proved to be the right one as he has since featured in Leipzig’s last three league games starting from this month.

 

He admits when push came to shove, he did not even think about the exit door.

 

“There are many reasons why we didn’t even think about it in the end – and it was the right decision.”

 

Nottingham Forest ended up buying Matz Sels from Strasbourg on the final day of the January window to solve their goalkeeping issues.
