Shoppers flee after man ‘stabbed in the back’ in shopping centre
A man was stabbed in front of horrified shoppers in broad daylight in a brutal attack this afternoon.
Met Police officers were called to The Brewery shopping and leisure centre in Romford at 12.53pm today after reports of a man being injured.
At the scene cops found the victim, who they believe was stabbed inside the stairwell at The Brewery.
Witnesses at the scene reported seeing a man with a knife injury to the back and police said he was taken to an East London hospital.
A Met Police spokesperson said: ‘Enquiries are ongoing to identify and locate the suspect. A crime scene is in place.’
Video footage posted on X (previously known as Twitter) shows crowds outside the shopping and leisure centre in Romford with security guards at the door.
There was ‘blood on the floor’, according to one Facebook user who said they were evacuated from Toby Carvery.
One X user said the ‘place was just being evacuated’ as they left the Vue cinema.
Another said the area is ‘all blocked off’, saying they’ve ‘just been stuck in Romford after a stabbing’.
The police urged anyone who witnessed the incident or has footage of it to call police on 101 quoting 3260/20FEB.
