STRICTLY star Adam Thomas says he’s being looked after by his nine-year-old son after being left in agonising pain.
The 35-year-old revealed his health nightmare having been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.
Adam – who stars as Donte Charles in Waterloo Road – recently opened up about the condition after ending up in hospital, saying, “I don’t want to suffer in silence anymore.”
Posting a video of his eldest child putting a compress on his ankle as he lay on the sofa, Adam wrote: “Today I had such a bad flare up with my arthritis.
“I was in so much pain, still am… but just to add to the pain I kicked a chair in a scene today at work and I can’t tell you how much it hurt.
“Tried to play it cool, but wow.
“Good little Ted for looking after me.”
Adam added: “Also, just want to say thanks everyone who has been sending so much love and advice over my arthritis journey.
“I just want to thank you all for sharing your story.
“It means the world.”
Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease where your immune system mistakenly attacks the cells in your joints.
Adam has tried medications, painkillers and steroid injections to help ease the pain and inflammation.
AROUND 10 million people in the UK suffer every day with the symptoms of arthritis.
While it is more common in older people it can affect anyone at any age – including children.
The two most common types are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Rheumatoid arthritis occurs when the body’s immune system targets affected joints, which leads to pain and swelling.
He previously told fans: “I will be trying a disease modifying drug which I will then take (if it works)for the rest of my life or until I go into remission.
“It’s been a long and hard battle and as of yet nothing has worked,but I’m hopeful!
“I’ve suffered just over a year with arthritis and I have to say it’s been the toughest period of my life to date.
“I’m a firm believer of everything happening for a reason, but I don’t really have the answer to that just yet.
“If I’m being completely honest… I’m suffering…I don’t think i want to suffer in silence no more x.”
